A new inspiration

Dr. Stephen Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe. Residing in Greenwich Village, the ideal bohemian neighborhood for an iconic ’70s figure, Dr. Strange seemed the perfect place to start a series of articles in which we give pop culture icons a makeover.

On screen, Dr. Strange is played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who, after modernizing the Sherlock Holmes character, is now multiplying his appearances on the big screen. Benedict Cumberbatch displays his natural elegance, whether meeting the Queen or on the court.

In contrast, the psychedelic Dr Strange sports a huge red cape over a blue kimono, topped with a huge gold pendant… when it comes to elegance and discretion, these are not what comes to mind! Fortunately, Blandin & Delloye has taken up the challenge, offering an alternative look for Dr Strange that also enhances the style of its portrayer.

Starting with the blazer, we offer the Doctor a sports lapel, patch-pocket blazer in blue houndstooth flannel from Vitale Barberis Canonico. Discreet, versatile and warm enough for dimensional travel.

The cape is harder to wear these days, so we suggest swapping it with a burgundy-red coat. Don’t forget that the cape originally replaced the coat for the poor.

To cover all contingencies, we’re proposing a pair of chino-cut wool pants in a more resistant whipcord weave from Holland & Sherry. In charcoal gray, they’ll be far more elegant than in black.

Lastly, as the Doctor’s hands have been damaged in an accident, we recommend lambskin gloves with cognac-colored loafers.

Dr Strange is out in theaters september 26th w/Benedict Cumberbatch, Madds Mikkelsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams et Tilda Swinton.
