Zero waste goal A Commitment to the Environment

At Blandin & Delloye, our zero-waste objective is at the core of our sustainability commitment. More than just a production approach, it’s a holistic philosophy aimed at eliminating all forms of waste — whether material, energy, or product — from the design of raw materials to the final use of the suit.

In practice, this means optimizing every resource at every stage of the lifecycle: carefully selecting responsible fabrics, producing only on demand, repurposing fabric scraps, choosing reusable packaging, and offering long-term support through our repair and alteration services.

No unnecessary loss, no avoidable waste. Every decision is guided by the belief that well-designed pieces are made to last!

The Fabric: The Starting Point of Our Commitment

At Blandin & Delloye, raw materials are the primary lever for reducing our carbon footprint: 67% of our emissions come from textiles, mainly wool. This is why we exclusively select responsible fabrics made from longer, more durable fibers, produced with respect for the environment, animals, and natural resources. We collaborate exclusively with renowned European weavers known for their craftsmanship and commitment. These partners hold certifications such as SustainaWool, Responsible Wool Standard, and Responsible Mohair Standard, which ensure animal welfare throughout the production cycle.

Beyond the fiber itself, we also focus on the impact of the transformation processes. Our weavers reuse water in dyeing and finishing processes to prevent waste and use responsible, non-polluting dyes. Some fabric lines, such as those from Vitale Barberis Canonico and Dormeuil, go even further by offering naturally dyed fabrics, thus reducing the use of chemicals. Our European base also helps limit unnecessary transportation distances, reducing the carbon footprint associated with shipping. This local and mindful approach allows us to minimize energy consumption while honoring the exceptional textile craftsmanship. Each fabric is chosen with care, not only for its quality and traceability but also for its alignment with our CSR commitment.

Made-to-Measure Production: No Stock, Less WasteAt Blandin & Delloye, we’ve chosen a production model based on common sense: zero unnecessary waste at every stage. From design to the finished product, everything is thought through to avoid waste and minimize our impact. It begins with the selection of raw materials, continues with made-to-order production, and extends to the repurposing of every fabric scrap. In practical terms, 99% of our suits are made only on demand. This allows us to produce exactly what is needed — no excess, no unsold stock, and therefore no waste of resources. This made-to-measure model is not only more sustainable but also allows us to offer each client a unique piece, designed specifically for them. The result: we maintain a loss rate of less than 1%. And even these remaining 1% are not wasted: they are used responsibly, whether for photoshoots, in-store merchandising, or other creative projects. At Blandin & Delloye, every meter of fabric counts, and every resource is valued as much as possible.

Recycling and Reuse at Every StepOur zero-waste commitment goes far beyond production itself. At every step, we strive to reuse and recycle as much as possible. Fabric scraps: Rather than discarding them, we’ve implemented a recycling system where some fabric scraps are carefully collected and transformed into new products. In 2024, 300 meters of fabric and 110 kg of wool were recovered and repurposed, preventing them from ending up in the trash. More reusable packaging: We’ve completely rethought how we deliver our products to customers. Gone are the single-use paper bags; we’ve switched to recycled cotton tote bags and 100% recycled polyester garment covers. These packages are not only more durable but also reusable, allowing our customers to use them daily, thus reducing their need for new single-use products.

After-Sales Service Designed for Durability

We firmly believe in the durability of our pieces. Our suits are made to last, which is why we’ve established a repair and alteration service. Have a garment that has been damaged or no longer fits after weight gain or loss? Rather than discarding it, we offer the opportunity to repair or transform your pieces.

For example, we can:

  • Re-make a sleeve

  • Adjust a jacket or trousers

  • Reduce the size or adjust the lengths according to your needs

This allows our customers to extend the lifespan of their clothing while also contributing to the reduction of textile waste.

The Second Life of Unsold Items

Our unsold items don’t end up in the trash, far from it. Every year, unsold pieces are collected and donated to La Cravate Solidaire, an association that fights against discrimination in hiring, particularly discrimination based on physical appearance.

This way, our unsold suits continue to live on, giving others the opportunity to wear high-quality clothing while contributing to the fight against exclusion.

Buy Less, But Better

The zero-waste goal is not only about responsible production; it’s also an invitation to rethink our consumption habits. At Blandin & Delloye, we believe it’s possible to consume less, but better. We encourage our clients to invest in quality pieces, designed to last, while adopting a more thoughtful approach to consumption and building a timeless sartorial wardrobe that lasts through the years.

In conclusion, our zero-waste approach is an achievable goal, where every resource is designed to be used for the long term. This commitment also relies on you, as a customer: the durability of your pieces depends as much on their quality as on the care you give them. The maintenance you provide, along with the thoughtful planning made with your advisor to build a coherent wardrobe, will ensure that you acquire only the pieces you truly need and will use to their full potential. Thus, our zero-waste goal is also a commitment we wish to build in partnership with you.
