At Blandin & Delloye, we never work alone — quite the opposite. As creators of high-quality garments, we surround ourselves with the most prestigious partners to offer you the finest quality and variety. Despite our wide-ranging expertise, we’ve made the deliberate choice not to weave our fabrics ourselves. Instead, we craft your made-to-measure pieces using top-tier materials sourced from our trusted and esteemed partners. Here’s why :
A suit is much more than just clothing, it’s a complex assembly of carefully selected materials. On the outside, there’s the cloth, most often wool, but sometimes linen, silk or cashmere, which gives the suit its familiar look. Inside, you’ll find a different kind of fabric: the lining, usually made from viscose, which makes the jacket more comfortable and easier to slip on. Beneath the collar, a discreet but firm piece of felt helps maintain a crisp shape. In the chest, layers of canvas, sometimes reinforced with horsehair, provide structure and volume.
Each part of the suit uses a fabric chosen for its specific purpose : durability, comfort, structure, or appearance. By combining these materials, we create a proper suit: a true garment made of a subtle blend of textiles.
You don’t become a clothmaker overnight. Each fabric, each length of cloth, requires a precise and time-honoured expertise passed down through generations. Before we can design a suit, the fabric itself must be created. It all begins with the selection of fibers — wool, linen, cashmere, silk — and the dyeing process. We speak of dye baths, as yarns or cloths are immersed in vats to set the color. This step is essential: it determines the evenness, depth, and lasting quality of the shade.
Then comes weaving, the step that defines the feel, the drape, and the elasticity of the fabric. There is an infinite range of weaves and just as many ways to bring out the nature of each fiber. In this sense, every cloth is a unique composition.
Weaving is a profession in its own right, with its own gestures, tools, and standards. That’s why at Blandin & Delloye, we don’t weave our own fabrics as we rely on the finest Italian and British mills whose expertise lies exactly there.
After all, before there is a suit, there is cloth. And before the cloth, there is the clothmaker.
At Blandin & Delloye, most of the fabrics available in our boutiques come from premium stock purchased directly from renowned mills such as Holland & Sherry, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Dormeuil, and Dugdale. This sourcing approach allows us to offer high-end fabrics at accessible prices. For those with a specific vision, it’s also possible to order a fabric cut to length.
Rather than offering endless options, we focus on a curated selection tailored to real-world needs : business suits, wedding attire, or everyday wardrobes. Our advisors are here to guide you toward the best choice based on your style, budget, and intended use.
The in-store experience is built on genuine conversation. We take the time to listen and understand what you’re truly looking for. Our advisors explain, suggest, and guide you with thoughtful recommendations — always with your needs in mind.
Our goal is to advise you, not rush you.
