Carlo Bassetti cotton pop over shirt

A casual shirt and technical

The pop-over shirt in white cotton redefines the codes of contemporary menswear. At the crossroads between the sports polo shirt and the formal shirt, it embodies that casual elegance: the famous Italian sprezzatura.

Made from a fabric by the prestigious Italian fashion house Carlo Bassetti, it offers exceptional freedom of movement. With a weight of 115 g/m² and a touch of elastane, it combines the lightness of a summer shirt with the structure of a suit. It adds a texture and modernity that classic poplin can't offer.

In a nutshell,

The pop-over shirt in stretch cotton is a key piece of casual chic. Its Italian fabric (97% cotton, 3% elastane) ensures thermal comfort and unrivalled flexibility. With its partial three-button opening and impeccable Italian collar, it offers a slim silhouette and effortless refinement from morning to night.

The shirt as a whole

Pop-over” style

The pop-over cut is characterised by a buttoned throat that stops in the middle of the bust. Historically popularised by Riviera style icons, this cut requires you to put it on by the head. This stylistic choice adds a relaxed touch and creates a cleaner, sportier look.

Composition: Maison Carlo Bassetti

We selected a 115 g/m² fabric made from 97% cotton and 3% elastane. Unlike a rigid fabric, this noble blend offers a mechanical stretch that accompanies every movement of the body. The hand is particularly soft and the fit remains impeccable throughout the day, naturally limiting excessive creasing.

The colour

The white selected by Carlo Bassetti has a unique depth. The specific weave absorbs light differently, giving a matt, textured white. It’s a versatile shade that enhances the complexion and pairs naturally with all jacket colours, from navy blue to sandy beige.

Options

The Italian collar

A generous 7.5 cm collar. This length is strategic: it allows the points to fit perfectly under the lapels of a jacket. Its rigid fit ensures that it remains straight and proud, even when worn open.

Throat and buttons

A simple, non-stitched collar for a minimalist design. The fastening consists of three real mother-of-pearl buttons, appreciated for their robustness and unique natural shine.

Angled cuffs

A modern, geometric cut. This technical detail emphasises the architectural aspect of the piece and complements the contemporary style of the cut.
