Sustainable Report 2023

OUR COMMITMENTS to sustainability

At Blandin & Delloye, our passion for the art of the suit goes hand in hand with a strong determination to reduce our environmental impact. Aware of our responsibilities, we have embarked on a transparent process to transform our practices and encourage more sustainable fashion.

A carbon footprint that urges us to act

In 2022, our carbon footprint stood at 448 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, with 67% of emissions coming from raw materials, mainly wool. This observation has led us to diversify our sources of supply by integrating recycled fabrics and optimising our production.

Compared to the ready-to-wear sector, we are already good students, even forerunners, but our commitment does not stop there: we will continue to take action to do even better.

Towards a healthier model

Our on-demand manufacturing model now accounts for over 96% of our sales, with a large proportion coming from our made-to-measure suits, enabling us to achieve a very low wastage rate: over 99% of items are sold to their intended customer. For the remaining 1%, we recycle two thirds of our products in partnership with La Cravate Solidaire, an association we’ve been supporting for 10 years.

Upcycling at the heart of our approach

Every year, we recover surplus fabrics left over from our workshops and transform them into new pieces. In 2024, we recycled 300 metres of wool, representing 110 kg of reused material.

We also promote even less polluting materials, such as linen and cotton, which have an even lower environmental impact, contributing to a more sustainable future.

Our areas for improvement: solutions for tomorrow

We are continuing our efforts to make costume-making even more responsible:

  • Recycled wools: Research into mixed solutions (virgin + recycled) to maintain quality and durability.
  • Advanced upcycling: Maximising the reuse of existing fabrics.
  • Sustainable materials: Monitoring innovations to incorporate increasingly eco-responsible materials.
  • Repair services: Implementing effective solutions to extend the life of each suit.

A committed boutique charter

Our shops are also part of this dynamic by adopting an ecological charter:

  • Rationalisation of supplies and choice of sustainable materials: Selection of environmentally-friendly products to reduce our impact.
  • Encouraging local consumption: Promoting local products and suppliers to support the local economy.
  • Training teams in eco-responsible practices: For example, our teams are made aware of simple gestures such as bringing their own lunch rather than going to the restaurant, in order to limit their daily environmental impact.

Think global, act local

Our actions don’t stop at our products: we promote active internal communication to raise awareness among our teams and customers of the challenges of sustainable fashion. By sharing our progress and commitments, we are contributing to positive, lasting change.
