Discover a unique activity in Paris, in tune with the world of luxury and made-to-measure. La brigade du tempsproposes a unique watchmaking experience in Paris: a course given by certified watchmakers with state diplomas.
The Plantin family, craftsmen watchmakers from father to son for over 30 years in the service of leading Swiss and French watchmakers, wanted to pass on this passion by revealing the secrets of a prestigious timepiece.
A lucky few were able to discover the Brigade duTemps experience during an evening watchmaking masterclass.
Between a few glasses of champagne and good cheeses, we were able to put ourselves in the watchmaker’s shoes, partially dismantle the movement and carry out its maintenance.
It’s an easy movement, because it’s quite large, but it requires quite a bit of dexterity on the part of a neophyte. The swissmade movement is an ETA 6497, pictured here:
The format didn’t allow for the full experience, but it made all participants want to come back!
Because the La Brigade du Temps workshop is a real training course. In a small group (maximum 9 participants) and surrounded by a team of professionals, you’ll learn the basics enabling you to understand the different modes of operation of a mechanical or automatic watch.
This is a quasi-tailor-made introduction to watchmaking. You will practice the various stages of a complete overhaul on a real mechanism: complete dismantling, cleaning with benzine, winding, lubrication, adjustment of an ETA Swiss automatic movement and its control via a chrono-comparator. Each participant will use his or her own workbench and all the professional equipment required for this overhaul: movement holder, magnifying glass, precision screwdriver, tweezers, bulb or rodico from leading brands.
At the end of this course, you’ll know the basics of how the prestige watch you wear with your best suits works!
