The art of tailoring

The Sartorial Universe at Blandin & Delloye

The sartorial universe is more than just a passing trend: it's an art of living that stands the test of time and adapts to the demands of the times. At Blandin & Delloye, this style is much more than a question of appearance. It is defined by precision of detail, exacting measurements, the quest for comfort and, above all, by the look of the wearer.

Since 2013, we have been striving to reinvent sartorialism by cultivating a perfect balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern bespoke design.

The sartorial: The art of being worn

The term sartorial evokes much more than a simple style of dress: it embodies an art, a tradition and a philosophy. Although we often take a broad view, the word has its roots in the Italian sarto (tailor) or sartoria (workshop). It’s a noble adjective that emphasises craftsmanship. To call ourselves sartorial is to seek much more than a perfect fit.

In our view, it’s a stylistic identity that is asserted above all through the way it’s worn. Sartorial is a philosophy that is embodied in every piece and every finish. With its roots in the heritage of master tailors, it continues to reinvent itself, combining modernity with respect for timeless codes.

Sartorial passion since 2013

Since its creation, Blandin & Delloye has endeavoured to cultivate this art of living by passionately reinterpreting the codes of sartorialism. Whether it’s a suit, a shirt or a coat, our workshops are constantly striving for perfection. We make it a point of honour to combine tradition and innovation to create pieces that reflect the image of our bespoke house.

Our regular presence at Pitti Uomo – the world’s leading menswear event – over the last few years has enabled us to develop our patterns and our vision, confirming our position as the benchmark for sartorial style in France.

The details that make all the difference: Options and finishes

The sartorial movement is no longer limited to a cut; it is distinguished by customisation choices that make all the difference. At Blandin & Delloye, each garment is a blank canvas that we shape according to your wishes.

The genesis of our approach begins with the selection of noble materials from the largest spinning mills in England and Italy. We prefer a traditional assembly: a tailored canvas over the entire jacket, excluding any thermo-adhesive, all carefully made in our European workshops.

Then comes the customisation of the details: the architecture of the shoulder, the shape of the lapels, the fineness of the topstitching, or the choice of lining and pockets. For the trousers, the requirements are the same: waistband with or without belt loops, choice of the number of darts, addition of brace buttons and adjustment of the bottom of the trousers to fit your shoes.

This creative process ends with a rigorous measurement process, to ensure that the finishing touches perfectly complement your silhouette and style.

How to master sartorial style? A word from Romain

A vast subject… Can we really say that sartorial style can be mastered? Everyone has their own vision of it and, in my opinion, it needs to be apprehended, reflected upon and matured. Not to the point of becoming an obsession, but rather to learn to feel the appetite for beauty.

For my part, I ‘fell into it’ through my origins, because in Italy, the approach to clothes is completely different. As I’ve grown older, I’ve learnt to assume a certain style, whatever the occasion. I think that’s where it all starts, in the end: mastery of your subject depends above all on the person wearing it. I’m particularly fond of the aesthetic of the 60s and 70s, when wearing a suit without being judged was still the norm.

To refocus my comments and respond more precisely to the question of mastering a style that people under twenty can’t possibly know: first and foremost, you have to know yourself!

Because today, many people can meet the demand for made-to-measure, whether industrial or artisanal. What will make the difference in mastering your style is your advice, your approach and your “vista”. Knowing how to ask the right questions to understand what the customer really wants. It’s certain that people don’t come to me for a fitted haircut without relief or soul.

The greatest mastery of style is respect. Respect for your tailor, respect for your outfit and, above all, respect for yourself.

Pitti Uomo and Blandin & Delloye

Pitti Uomo is an unmissable event that never gets old. Much more than just a fashion show, it’s a place for sharing and meeting people. It’s the beating heart of men’s elegance, where designers, journalists, buyers and enthusiasts meet, all united by the same quest: style and excellence.

Twice a year, for one week, Florence becomes the world capital of beauty. Blandin & Delloye, true to its love of sartorialism, goes there every year.

Summer and winter alike, the members of our bespoke fashion house gather there to be inspired and recharged through meetings, exchanges and captured moments. A summary of the “Road to Pitti 109” evening will be published shortly.

The CSR Charter at Blandin&Delloye

The sartorial world is based on a precise balance between aesthetics and technical mastery.

Today, our development has enabled us to structure our creations and our boutiques around demanding specifications, guaranteeing that each made-to-measure piece reflects our vision of style.

This requirement is fully in line with our responsible approach. Our concept of the modern gentleman also embodies these values, through a wardrobe designed with sustainability, the right materials and respect for know-how in mind.
We select our fabrics and our workshops with care, favouring European channels, and make sure that each drapery complies with the rules of the art, both for the quality of the fibre and for animal welfare.

By limiting the environmental impact of our production and promoting ethical sourcing, we’re not looking to sell ‘better’, but to offer a garment that makes sense.

For us, sartorial elegance is fully realised when it is supported by a caring structure and responsible manufacturing processes.

Interview Hugo Jacomet

2023 was an anniversary year for Charles and Cédric. For the tenth anniversary of their association, they chose Hugo Jacomet to be the project manager for their event.

This meeting and this introduction are not insignificant. Hugo Jacomet, who needs no introduction, is the French benchmark for sartorial DNA. This meeting underlines the determination of Charles, Cédric and their associates to take the house to the heart of the purists of style.

This benevolent introduction has given rise to a mutual loyalty and respect between the ‘elegant of the elegant’ and our bespoke house.

Founder of Parisian Gentleman in 2009, Hugo’s mission is to educate men about elegance and the art of beauty. He is the author of several reference books, which you can browse through in most of our Blandin & Delloye showrooms.

Accompanied by his wife Sonya, Hugo is a key figure at Pitti Uomo and at the world’s biggest events. A trailblazer, he launched his YouTube channel (Sartorial Talks) in 2017, meeting with immediate success.

Another testament to this synergy is a video shot following Blandin & Delloye’s anniversary. The “Sartorial Talks” on YouTube have become a must for all purists of classic masculine elegance.

In fact, it was on this channel that Hugo chose to announce his collaboration with Blandin & Delloye on “My first made-to-measure suit”. A real success that crowns ten years of high standards.
